Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District (BSEACD) sponsored its 6th Annual Austin Cave Festival on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at the Village of Western Oaks Karst Preserve. The event featured many Austin area organizations that focus on caving and on water issues.

This is a 54 minute version of video about Cave Fest that aired on community television in Austin as part of ICONMEDIA.ORG's Austin News Real series Texas Water 101.

Dr. Brian Smith, Aquifer Science Team Leader from the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District, speaks about the work of this groundwater district and especially the importance that science plays in developing water conservation policy. Included is a short segment from Cave Fest where Brian Smith shows a model demonstrating the way wells function.
