This week’s Austin News Real program features Bruce Melton, P.E., an Austin civil engineer and climate change expert, who reveals the true impact of the warming planet. Bruce Melton talks about what he learned visiting Greenland and witnessing firsthand the melting glaciers. He also screens his 12-minute documentary, “What Have We Done,” about the greatest tree pandemic in North America in possibly 10,000 years. Four hundred million trees are dead in the American Rockies. This is what the scientists have been warning us about when they said that insect infestation would increase in a warmer world. Austin News Real’s guest Judith McGeary, an attorney and organic farmer, as well as founder of the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance, talks about the National Animal Identification System (NAIS). This program, developed by the big industry giants, requires that any type of live stock animal be registered and tagged. Information on the animals is to be reported to databases owned and controlled by private companies. Austin News Real’s Pam Thompson shows video footage of Pat Cadam, from Green Gears in San Francisco, who visited Austin Community College’s automotive department at the Riverside campus on Oct. 15, 2008. Pat Cadam demonstrated how to convert an existing Toyota Prius into an even more advanced battery operated car.
