Austin News Real’s Pam Thompson shows video footage of Pat Cadam, from Green Gears in San Francisco, who visited Austin Community College’s automotive department at the Riverside campus on Oct. 15, 2008. Pat Cadam demonstrated how to convert an existing Toyota Prius into an even more advanced battery operated car. The Catalyst Project has produced an advocacy piece, "Igniting Texas' New Energy Economy," aimed at the next Texas legislature with recommendations to incentivize a more rapid development of renewable energy in the state. The report demonstrates that while there are many reasons for Texas to be the leader in renewable energy, other states like California and New Mexico have pulled out ahead. The project claims that this next legislature may be the last chance for Texas to get into the game.
