iconmedia receives Education Award

iconmedia received the 2008 Education Groundwater Stewardship Award on Nov. 7, 2008 from the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservaton District for coverage of water issues and the Austin News Real series "Texas Water 101."

Register To Vote

Katherine Haenschen, a volunteer with the Obama campaign and a graduate student in the Radio-Television-Film Dept. at the University of Texas, appeared on Austin News Real to discuss efforts to register voters in Austin and Travis County. The deadline for voter registration is October 6, 2008.

In this episode of Austin News Real were photographs of Obama campaign volunteers registering people to vote, an interview with Sissy Farenthold at the Texas State Democratic Party Convention in June 2008, and a 5-minute story about that convention from ATXedition.TV.

Disabled Voters Unserved

Austin News Real program featuring Vote Rescue’s Jenny Clark and Karen Renick along with testimony from Noel Runyan at the Elections Committee of the Texas State Legislature recorded on July 25, 2008. Mr. Runyan, who is sight impaired, discusses problems faced by people with disabilities using electronic voting machines to cast their ballots.
